In order to develop an EcoBlock in an inner city with enough vacant land or buildings to make it feasible, a correlating zoning code needs to be in place to allow its unique structure to be implemented.
The Model EcoCode has been developed as a prototype Form-Based Code (re-focused at the block level) that can be adapted to the target city, and then site-adapted to the actual blocks in question.
The Model EcoCode is a guidance document that establishes the physical zoning parameters of an EcoBlock which can then be contextualized to any suitable city quickly and efficiently.
