Under the supervision of Dana Malkus, Director of St. Louis University’s Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic, two senior law students worked with Craig Scandrett-Leatherman to identify legal tools and ownership models by which Urban EcoBlock could perpetuate 15% affordable housing, equity for all incomes, and ecological stewardship. Students summarized the features of Community Land Trusts; Cooperatives; Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions; and Planned Unit Developments; and various combinations that might work in different combinations to advance the goals of Urban EcoBlock.
