Urban EcoBlock has been working with the City of St. Louis Planning and Urban Design Agency on tailoring the Model EcoCode to the context of the city which will become the EcoCode: St. Louis.  After making suggested changes to the code, the Planning Department has provisionally approved the EcoCode: St. Louis pending a case study model of how a typical block would be built out using the code. Once completed this will then be presented to the Zoning Commissioner for final approval.  The next step will be to adopt the EcoCode as an approved Planned Unit Development (PUD) model. Once in place, the EcoCode: St. Louis can then be adopted on any suitable block after a community engagement process to pave the way for an EcoBlock development. This will be the first test of the zoning code being actually adopted by a municipality.
